"Microsoft's Bing Chat Now Supports Visual Search" (2 minute read)

Microsoft has revealed a notable upgrade to its AI chatbot, Bing Chat, with the introduction of visual search. Users now have the ability to upload or capture a photo and inquire about it via Bing Chat on either desktop or the Bing app. Bing can understand the context of the image and provide relevant information, making it a handy tool for a variety of scenarios. This innovation is Microsoft's answer to the ongoing AI competition among key players like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic. The tech giants are in a race to build the most sophisticated generative AI, with a keen eye on integrating new features to keep up with both text-based and image-oriented AI tools.

"AI Tackles Fare Evasion in NYC Subways" (2 minute read)

The New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is using AI-powered surveillance software to counter fare evasion in subway stations. Developed by Spanish firm AWAAIT, the software detects fare evaders and sends their photos to station agents' smartphones. It's currently operational in seven subway stations, with plans for expansion. MTA uses this technology to quantify the frequency and methods of fare evasion but does not report offenders to law enforcement. The system's introduction aligns with increased police presence in subway stations and a rise in fare evasion-related arrests.

"Major AI Companies Commit to Pre-Release Testing and Transparency" (5 minute read)

Leading AI companies, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Inflection, have committed to subject their AI systems to external testing before public release and to clearly label AI-generated content. These voluntary pledges were announced by the White House and aim to increase the safety, security, and trustworthiness of AI systems while more comprehensive regulations are being developed. Critics caution that, despite these commitments, enforcement mechanisms are lacking and tech companies have previously struggled to uphold voluntary agreements.

"AI-Powered BPO Startup Gushwork AI Raises $2.1M in Pre-Seed Funding" (3 minute read)

Gushwork AI, an artificial intelligence-driven business process outsourcing (BPO) platform, has secured $2.1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Lightspeed. The startup offers a marketplace of offshore workers trained in AI applications, aiming to help businesses efficiently outsource operational tasks. By providing flexible part-time hiring options, Gushwork AI allows businesses to adjust their operational support based on their unique needs.
